Not happy with P&o i traveled on the PACIFIC DAWN August 2008
i caught NORO VIRUS confined to my room was escorted off the ship in Sydney . was treated like i had the plague .
i was not allowed near other passengers i found this very degrading so would not travel with P&0 again

Norovirus isn’t confined to P & O ships! It can be caught anywhere that a number of people are gathered, and also handling food. That’s why it is essential for everyone to wash their hands properly before touching food at buffets, etc. It is very infectious hence the confinement to your cabin.

That is very childish Bev, P&O did exactly what they had to do, and that is confine you to your room. I work at a hospital and our proceedure is the same with staff wearing gowns, masks, head covers and gloves. You are usually quarantined for 3 days depending on the severity. If they did not treat you like you had the plague just imagine the consequences as this spreads very quickly. Our shopping trolleys have been found to have feaces on the handles sobe carefull next time you shop or will you ban shopping there if you get the virus again. Carry hand wash with you and keep your hands away from your face until you wash them.

Kay, you are a well travelled cruiser. When should I get my tickets. I am going on Pacific Dawn 23 January 2010. P & O would not tell me if they have posted them to me yet when I rang them. I thought I would get tickets very soon.
I thought since our final payment is 60 days prior to cruise then tickets should follow soon after final payment.

No your tickets could come between 4 to 1 week. I go through a travel agent. Last time I got them 4 weeks prior the cruise, the time before that 3 weeks and a friend of mine 1 week. Start to panic when it is down to 1 week then ring them and they can send overnight express.

ok Thanks for the info Kay. P & O are posting direct to us.
We still have NOT told our children we are going on this Cruise.
We will tell them when we line up on the day. Our children won’t know we booked it 18 months ago.
Our youngest (6yo, he will be 7 for the cruise) askes every day is Santa coming today. So to tell him about the cruise would be constent questions, is it the cruise today, every day for 8 weeks. No thanks.
All our children can find out on the day we leave on Pacific Dawn. Not long now.
I have to organize, school shoes, uniforms, books during the holidays as the cruise comes back on 30th Jan 2010. With one day rest it will be back to school on Monday. As it is they will miss first 2 days back at school. I’m sure they won’t mind.

Kay, I was just reading the details on P & O website about cruise cards onboard. I have been on several cruises and have used cruise cards, but I have never been on a cruise with children.
Q. In P & O website is says all cruise cards have $300 cr placed on them. Kay do you know if they put $300 cr on children’s cruise cards. I really hope they do not put this amount on a 7yo cruise card?
Is $300cr only on Adult Cruise Cards?
Anyone with children who has been on a cruise, can you let me know what happens with childrens cruise cards. Thank you.

You read correctly. They do put $300 on children’s cards as well as adult cards. I was also worried about this with an 11 and 16 year old, but after 11 days on board their combined usage was just $258 for the whole cruise. I didn’t inform my kids of the amount available or set limits to their spending. I know they had a fantastic time and were probably just to occupied with their new friends in the teen HQ and HQ+ clubs to go out spending!
