Hi everybody,
Firstly to introduce ourselves, we are the onboard People and Performance Managers across the P&O Cruises fleet. Victor Lee is onboard Pacific Dawn, Beckie McLeaming calls Pacific Sun home and Amanda Hathorn will be onboard Pacific Jewel from December.
Our role involves the training and development of crew and assisting with crew welfare. We are all from Canada and love working at sea as it’s a great opportunity to travel the world and meet great people.
Recently, we are spent the week in sunny Sydney at CARE Training, along with more than 100 staff from Carnival Australia (Carnival Australia owns and operates P&O Cruises).
Course trainer, Dr Carolyn Coarsey from Aviem International Inc. (Centre) with Beckie McLeaming from Pacific Sun and Amanda Hathorn from Pacific Jewel.
The course empowers staff and provides them with the necessary knowledge and tools to assist passengers and other crew members during a time of unease or emotional distress.
Beckie, Amanda and myself will be responsible for training all crew members across the P&O Cruises’ fleet, as part of ensuring our passengers’ safety, security and wellbeing is our first priority during their cruise. The Carnival Australia staff who completed the training are ‘on call’ to assist passengers if the need arises.

We have really enjoyed our time onshore in Sydney. It’s a great city with beautiful weather and lots to do!
