G’day Bloggers,

Wow, what a weekend! The second of our three day Wine and Food sampler cruises.

It all started on the Friday. We had the one and only Catherine Freeman grace our decks for the new fund raising program “Walk the Decks“. Not only were we honoured to have the Olympic Legend on board but we also had the CEO of Carnival Australia Ann Sherry track-suited up and ready to walk.

But I have to say the biggest highlight of the morning for me was finding out that Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin from the Sydney Swans were joining us for the day! If anyone has cruised with me before you know I am a BIG TIME Sydney Swans supporter, member and fan!

Before I started cruising I was at every home game and most Melbourne games, sitting in the cheer squad, making banners, screaming my lungs out and dressed head to toe in Red and White! You can even see not only me but my personalised banners when Plugger (Tony Lockett) kicked his 1300 goal!

The guys were there to support the Catherine Freeman Foundation, a charity that help indigenous Australian Children, and of course “Walk the Decks“. I had a chat to Adam Goodes about the ship and what I do. Adam was about to celebrate his 250th game with the Swans. Michael O’Loughlin celebrated his 300th game the week before.

After talking to the guys they both seemed very excited about the idea of cruise on the Pacific Dawn. Hopefully have managed to talk the whole team into come on a cruise, fingers crossed.

Go the Swannies!

Hi Zoltina, Did the Sydney Swan boys get to see alot of the ship or did they stay mostly on deck. What a fantastic experience to be involved in.
My boys are involved in little athletics and we would love to have Cathy Freeman come and see us. My son’s coach has an annual indigenous camp and we have met some olympic & Commonwealth athletes at this camp.

    Hello Jenny,

Unfortunately to my knowledge, the guys only saw the Lido deck/ Jogging track. But they loved what they saw. They had a game the next day so they had there final training session they had to go to. Adam Goodes wanted to organize a walk around so the whole team could check out everything the Pacific Dawn has to offer, I just hope they don’t come on when I am on my break ;)

    Kind Regards.

We did the 29 day cruise to the south pacific in June 09: We had a great time: I loved the ‘Dawn’: we have cruised on the ‘Sky’ and the ‘Sun’ they are all great ships: We are doing another cruise in Dec: we leave from Adelaide (our home port) and sail to Fremantle: it’s only for 6 days: then in Feb we sail on the Dawn Princess from Melbourne to NZ: I just love cruising: it’s so relaxing:

    Hi Zoltina

Good luck in your new venture on the Pacific Jewel. Sorry that you won’t be on the Dawn when we come back on board next January. Have been on many cruises and you would have to be the best cruise director ever.’
